The Fill It Forward Challenge is the centerpiece of The Drive the Future: A Hyundai Experience and is designed to bring awareness to the issue of water sustainability by encouraging students, faculty and staff at three California colleges to compete for a $100K Sustainability Grant.
During the contest which ran November 4-22, participants from Loyola Marymount University, Pepperdine University and Santa Clara University scanned a school specific tag using Cupanion’s Fill It Forward™ app every time they refilled their reusable water bottles. They were able to track their own emissions savings; give a cup of clean water to someone in need and help fund water-based projects around the world. The school with the most scanned refills at the end of the contest is Santa Clara, with 60,022 scans, winning the $100,000 sustainability grant from Hyundai.
To promote the contest onsite, Hyundai and the participating campuses hosted a full line-up of Drive the Future programming that put students, faculty and staff in the driver’s seat — literally! — to better the environment.
